Dear Yule Goat,
First of all - thank you! The fandoms I requested are, frankly, like crack and I simply cannot get enough, so thank you for enabling my sick, sick habit. :D
As for details, there are a few things about my tastes that run across my fandoms. Most importantly: I'm easy. I'm talking drunk cheerleader on prom night, here. I'll read just about anything at least once, provided it's grammatically correct and CAPSLOCK-free (and even then I'll make exceptions).
But I do have a few preferences. For one thing, I'm mostly a gen girl, with a few exceptions; I think there's not enough gen in the world, and people just hanging out and being friends is awesome. I love snark, sarcasm, and things that make me giggle; I think it's harder for people to pull off angst, but, well, I'll read it anyway. I'm a big fan of slice-of-life stories, provided that they make me laugh, but I also have a soft spot for plot. (See what I mean? Easy.)
Now for the fandoms:
The Middleman
Okay, there is pretty much no way you can go wrong, here. Although I'm not a Middleman/Wendy shipper myself, I still love their dynamic and think they're both wonderful characters. I'm...trying to think of things to say that aren't "I love all of it so much omfg!", but I'm having difficulty. The geeky references are a big plus for me, as are the completely insane villains, but when it comes down to it I just love everyone. Canon-wise, I've seen all the episodes and read the comic, so there's no need to worry about spoiling me. :)
Chuck
I love Chuck because Chuck is a nerd. Chuck's friends are nerds. The level of nerdiness on the show is just off-the-charts and it makes me happy. But I also think Casey and Sarah and Ellie and Morgan and Captain Awesome are incredibly well-rounded characters who deserve some more love. Again, gen is what I'll always read without hesitation, but I'm open to Chuck/Sarah, Ellie/Captain Awesome, and, not gonna lie, sometimes I see Chuck and Sarah and Casey in the same shot and think, wow, that's hot. And, of course, Chuck/Bryce.
Avengers and New Avengers
Okay, this is the one fandom that comes with a caveat. I think Civil War was an incredibly interesting and incredibly mishandled event that had the potential to be genuinely thought-provoking before the writers flubbed it. Once I got into the comics (and yes, I'm a post-Iron-Man-movie convert), it was All About Steve and Tony for me. I think that post-Civil War fics can be really interesting and compelling, but I also think they're really, really difficult to pull off and it's probably easier to just avoid it altogether. (That said, I also love really well-done Civil War fixits, so there you go.) New Avengers are my favorite because they have added snark (let's face it, Peter's adorable), but Old School Avengers are pretty badass too, and I have a soft spot for Jan and Carol. My preferred pairing here is Steve/Tony, but, again, gen or pre-slash work just fine. (And I also really like Rumiko Fujikawa, although she's not present in the New Avengers.)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Aaand this is the one fandom for which I am an unrepentant shipper - I think Haruhi and Kyon are pretty much perfect, and I could watch/read them bicker at each other for years without getting tired of it. I've read a lot of the light novels, too, up to and including the Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya, so spoilers for that is absolutely fine if you want to include them. (I thought it was the most compelling of the light novels, but quite frankly it was also pretty much a collection of plot devices that make me weak at the knees, so...) I should note that the second season, should it ever come out, is probably going to be based on Vanishment, so if you haven't read it and don't want to be spoiled for season two, avoid it like the plague.
But back to the fandom itself - again, I'm easy. I prefer Haruhi/Kyon, but, again, I love gen and would probably be willing to read just about any pairing, because I just love the characters so much.
Again, thank you so much for writing a story for me, and I hope this helped! This is my first Yuletide, and I'm ridiculously excited. :D
